F-2 National Simultaneous Storytime

Wednesday, May 19, 2021

On Wednesday 19 May, students in Foundation to Year 2 participated in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). This year the book chosen for NSS was Give Me Some Space written and illustrated by Philip Bunting. During the morning literacy block the students listened to the story being read then completed Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) based activities.

  • Foundation - Shape Rockets
  • Year 1 - 3D Rockets
  • Year 2 - Straw Rockets

At 10:30 am, all F-2 classes gathered in the Atrium and representatives from each class displayed and discussed the rockets they had made. The session ended with a very special reading of the story by astronaut Dr Shannon Walker from the International Space Station. The students were very excited and are all longing to borrow the book from the library.

This is the 21st year that the Australian Library and Information Association has held NSS and this year 1,980,280 readers in 33,418 locations participated.
