Water experiment
In our first week of STEAM, 3A jumped right in with a science experiment in the lab! Do you think it is possible to poke a hole in a bag full of water and not have a single leak? It is!
Plastic bags are made of long flexible polymers. They get pushed to the side when you stick a pencil through, and this creates a tight seal! Try this experiment at home to amaze your family and friends!
Magnets
This year Antonine College has launched a new program for Years 3&4 called STEAM. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics. Each term, classes experience one aspect of STEAM. This term in 3A the STEAM subject is Science Experiments, and they are working in the science lab with Mrs Hocking.
Students used a variety of magnets to investigate if magnets always attract each other. We discovered that some magnets attract, while others repel! We used new words like magnetic, magnetic attraction, repulsion and magnetism.
Well done to 3A for their investigative attitude and enthusiasm for all things science!
