The Great Book Swap

Wednesday, September 07, 2022

Wednesday, 7 September was Indigenous Literacy Day and students at Cedar Campus marked the event by holding The Great Book Swap. Students brought books from home that they have enjoyed but no longer need and swapped them with books from other students. They also donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). The ILF use this money to buy new books for indigenous children in remote Australian communities.

This is the first Great Book Swap held since 2019 and a total of 985 books were swapped with $753.60 raised in donations. Congratulations to Miss Nadia and 3A for swapping 139 books and to Miss C and 1C for raising $192. Each class will receive a perpetual trophy to keep in their classroom until our next Great Book Swap in 2023.

Thank you to Mrs Nat Abboud, Mrs Theresa Essey, Mrs Pascal Kanati, and Mrs Manisha Kaushik for setting up the book swap in the atrium and for helping the students choose their books.

If you would like to donate to the ILF you can do so at the Antonine College – The Great Book Swap fundraising page. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.
