Year 7 and 8 Futsal Champs at La Trobe Sports Stadium

Tuesday, October 11, 2022

On a beautiful sunny day, the Year 7/8 Antonine boys and girls soccer teams travelled to Bundoora to compete in the SACCSS Futsal Championship at La Trobe University. The day started off promising, with the boys using their recent SACCSS Soccer goal-scoring form as momentum, scoring 4 goals against Mackillop College and winning their opening game 4-2. Nick Toma scored twice in a best-on-ground performance, with Lucas and Wissam also chiming in with 1 each. The boys soccer team continued this winning form into the next game, finishing with a 2-0 win against CRC North Keilor. Another great performance from the captain, Nick Toma, led the team from the front and scored 1 goal, with Adam Samie also scoring.

In the 3rd game, Antonine competed against a talented Thomas Carr College team to fall short and lose 1-0. Special mention must go to Ali El-Saleh for making some terrific saves to keep Antonine in the game. In the 4th game, Antonine went up against a very well-drilled team in St Monica’s College, losing 8-1. In the final game of the afternoon, Antonine played Marymede College. With an inspired comeback, led by Adam Samie, coming on from the bench and scoring a brilliant solo goal when Antonine were down 2-0 in the 2nd half of the game, Antonine then managed to nab another goal to finish the game at 2-2. The boys soccer team now looks to Thursday 13th of October for the SACCSS Soccer game against Mackillop College.
