January 2022 Newsletter

Dear Members of the Antonine College Community,

Welcome to the 2022 school year! I hope that you have enjoyed a restful break! We are thrilled to welcome all of you back to a new school year of learning. I particularly welcome those families who are new to Antonine College and trust that your journey at our College will be a positive one.

Changes to College Communication

Please note there is a change in the way we will communicate with you regularly. We will be updating our newsletters on our website and we will send you an email instead of an SMS when there are updates. It is very important that parents ensure that their email addresses on the College database are up to date. It is also important to check the College website at least fortnightly so you do not miss important information. SMS will only be used for specific information.

College Theme 2022

This year, our College theme, Rejoice and be Glad Today (Psalm 118:24), asks us all to pause each day and to reflect on these questions:

  • What people, experiences, or other gifts has God given me to grow in holiness?
  • How could I use those gifts well?
  • How can I take time to express gratitude to God in prayer?

Pope Francis, in his Encylcical Letter Laudato Si’ says: How wonderful is the certainty that each human life is not adrift in the midst of hopeless chaos, in a world ruled by pure chance or endlessly recurring cycles! The Creator can say to each one of us: ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you’ (Jeremiah 1:5). We were conceived in the heart of God, and for this reason ‘each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary’.[39]

Praise God,

Thank you for giving me another day of life. Thank you for pouring out blessings all around me. May my heart be rejoicing in everything I do today. I am grateful, happy and blessed. Help me to be a blessing to others so they may experience your love. Amen

Home and School Partnership

We recognise that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. It is very important to ensure that the students in all year levels from Foundation to Year 12 start positively from week one; as achieving good and excellent results do not just happen but rather occur because of the hard work of the students and a strong partnership between teachers and parents.

College Policies

I encourage all families to make themselves familiar with the College policies. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behaviour for a safe and productive school year. Please feel free to review the College policies on our website: https://www.antonine.catholic.edu.au/college/antonine-college/policies.

College Uniform

I remind all families of their responsibility to ensure that students have the correct uniform as set out in the College Student Dress Code which is available in the Student Planner and on the website https://www.antonine.catholic.edu.au/enrolment-information/uniform. Families through the enrolment process agree to adhere to the College Student Dress Code. Please note that senior boys must be cleanly shaven. Students with allergies that impact on their ability to shave must now have a Medical Plan filled in to support any Medical Certificate. The Medical Plan will be available from reception as of next week.

All students from Foundation to Year 12 are required to be in full summer uniform. No PE/Sports uniform to be worn on the first day of school.
