2022 Book week activities

Monday break 2 – Origami in the library during lunch break.

Students and teachers enjoyed an afternoon of Origami – following directions from our library books to fold paper into a range of creations.

Tuesday period 1 and 2

Local author Lilli Wilkinson spoke to our year 9 and 10 about the novels she has written, the writing process and her inspiration for writing for young people. Her novels will often reveal the unexpected and can raise ethical questions which engaged the student’s attention.

Break 2

Board games are back in the library, scrabble, Uno, Chess and connect 4 – it's great to see again.

On Friday the 19th August, Year 7 and 8 students were entertained by visiting author, Robert Newton. This Australian author and firefighter, has written a number of books, including the Year 8 English text, Runner. Students were enchanted by the stories he told them about his life as a young boy and as an author. He spoke with passion and encouraged students to follow their own writing dreams. Students asked excellent questions and were treated to book signings too. They gave Robert Newton’s visit a ‘thumbs up’! It was a fabulous way to start our Book Week celebrations.
