Year 10 students are developing and using their job seeking skills to find work experience which is scheduled in May from the 18th to the 22nd. Some students get to do extra placements depending on the employer opportunity.
Since late last year students have met with the Careers Development practitioner to discuss their interests. Jacob C expressed an interest in aeroplanes. We were lucky to snap up a work experience opportunity with Jetstar in December last year. Jacob completed an application form, and it wasn’t until February this year he found out that he was successful and accepted the opportunity.
Jacob spent a week with Jetstar spending time at the hangars at Tullamarine, in offices with the early careers team in Collingwood and at the flight simulation centre in Airport West. Jacob was working with a team of 11 other students from various schools around Victoria.
For Jacob this opportunity with Jetstar is an unforgettable experience and hopefully gives him some insight into the many careers that are possible.
