In honour of Lebanese Independence Day, Year 9 Food Technology students took part in a special practical cooking session preparing smashed kafta wraps, a staple of Lebanese street food.
Students prepared their own kafta mixture, combining minced meat with finely chopped parsley, onion, salt and pepper. The room was filled with delicious aromas and the activity generated enthusiasm around making food students were familiar with and the potential of re-creating this recipe outside of the classroom.
This practical not only celebrated Lebanese culture but also strengthened students’ understanding of food traditions, knife skills and cooking techniques. The smashed kafta wrap activity made Lebanese Independence Day both educational and delicious, leaving students proud of their creations and Middle Eastern culture.
