Instructional Coaching at Antonine College

At Antonine College, we are committed to continually improving teaching practice and pedagogy so that every student can flourish. One of the key ways we do this is through Instructional Coaching, a professional learning approach recommended by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) and supported by evidence based educational research.

Our coaching focuses on four key areas: creating calm and supportive classrooms, building strong curriculum knowledge, using effective teaching strategies, and understanding how assessment can best support student progress.

Through coaching, teachers work collaboratively with an instructional coach to reflect on their classroom practice, share ideas and trial strategies using evidence-based approaches that support student learning and wellbeing. Coaching is not about evaluation — it is about learning together and continually striving to improve student outcomes. Just as we encourage our students to be lifelong learners, our teachers are too.
