Year 6 Explores Parliament

Last week, our Year 6 students enjoyed an exciting visit to the Victorian Parliament building. They stepped inside the Legislative Chambers where laws are made, uncovered the mystery of the stolen mace, and even sat in a Member of Parliament’s chair to learn about the Westminster style of Parliament.

Students admired the portraits of past Premiers lining the walls and explored the historic Library, which played a key role in persuading the Federal Parliament to occupy the building from 1901 to 1927.

A special highlight was meeting Anthony Cianflone, State Labor Member for Pascoe Vale, who spoke with students about his role in state politics and answered questions about how Parliament works and how young people can get involved.

It was a wonderful opportunity for students to see history, democracy, and public service come alive!
