Lebanese Independence Day

Thursday, November 21, 2024

Wearing white can have various symbolic meanings depending on the context, culture, or occasion. But, on Wednesday the Cedar Campus students had to wear White T shirt to represent peace in an assembly for Lebanese Independence Day which is celebrated on the 22nd of November.

The assembly started with a prayer in Arabic and English calling for Peace in Lebanon and the region. The Atrium was decorated by different artworks that represent Lebanon completed by year 3A students.

The students showcased their talents in variety of performances such as reciting acrostic poems about Lebanon that year 6 students have created in their Arabic classes. The Cedar Choir sang 2 songs for Fauiroz لبيروت and اعطونا الطفولة for Remi Bendalli.

2C students sang and danced the Arabic song كان عنا طاحون

Also, 3 students from year 6 Gabriella, Rachelle and Valantina sang Arabic songs for Fauiroz accompanied on the keyboard by Mr Dany and Joey and Benjamin on percussion.

Last but not least , foundation students delighted us with their performance in singing the popular songs of Fauiroz تك تك تك يا ام سليمان and قمرة يا قمرة.

But the assembly will not be completed without adding a flavour of rhythm on percussion instruments such as the طبل and دربكة played by our year 6 students, Benjamin, Joey , Daniel, Christopher and Jaad.

As Lebanon faces challenges , we hope for peace and brighter tomorrow for all.

- Mrs Rima Atme and Mr Joseph Abou Zeid
