Scholastic Book Fair

Students at Cedar Campus were very excited to attend the Scholastic Book Fair held in the library from Tuesday 16 - Friday 19 May. Great value, high interests book packs were a big hit with students who had an eye for a bargain. Colourful posters were also very popular with the entire stock selling out. In total, $2234 in sales were made which entitles the College to $720 in commission which has been taken as new books from the fair for the Cedar Campus library.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Held annually in May, National Simultaneous Storytime is an event held in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, and book shops across Australia and New Zealand. The book chose this year was The Speedy Sloth written by Rebecca Young and illustrated by Heath McKenzie. This book about Spike the sloth is an inspiring story that celebrates all winners - especially those that don’t come first.

Students in Foundation to Year 2 listened to the story being read then participated in literature-based activities. They were part of over two million young children in 59,000 locations to enjoy this inspiring story.

Read More in May Challenge

The Read More in May Challenge has now ended. Students have until the end of this week to submit their completed reading logs to be in for a chance to win one of eighteen book packs. That is one for each class. Winners will be announced in the next newsletter.
