Year 5 & 6 Debating

Literacy extension students from Year 5 & 6 recently participated in a Debating competition hosted at St. Raphael's Primary School in Preston. The students prepared two debates before the day and were provided with a secret topic and limited time to prepare for their final debate.
The students were impressive and competed well and we had a few wins on the day. The adjudicator feedback provided the students with areas to improve, and they implemented this in each debate they participated in, getting better across the day.
The topics for the prepared debates:
That school uniforms should be optional.
That we should tax plastic.
The secret topic students received on the day:
That school canteens and vending machines should only serve vegetarian food.
